Fitness for a Lifetime

Jim edit wbJim Marblestone is a regular fixture in the gym at Midwest Rehab and is a testament to the importance of physical therapy. In September of 2013, Dr. Romanelli operated on the avid golfer’s knee, and he completed therapy to recovery from his surgery. After recovering from his knee surgery, he experienced a stroke that left him unable to walk, care for himself and made it difficult from him to swallow.

After three weeks in the hospital and two months in an extended stay care facility, Jim began working with Amy Blandford, DPT, and Caitlin York, PTA, at Midwest Rehab. They helped him build his strength and regain his confidence. His therapy helped him transition from a wheelchair to a cane, and now, he only relies on his cane for insurance when he knows he’ll be on his feet for extended periods of time.

Now that his formal therapy sessions have concluded, Jim takes advantage of a monthly membership program, Stay Fit, at Midwest Rehab. He strives to continue to improve strength and range of activities by working out three times a week.

His hard work and persistence paid of this September with a trip he’s been meaning to take for more than a year: the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., where he was recognized for his service in the Air Force during the Korean War. He said without Amy and Caitlin and his continued workout sessions, he would not have felt comfortable with the long day of sightseeing. Thank you for your service, Jim!
